Maruti Suzuki is the leader in the entry level car segment. The increased competition in the small car segment has led to this home grown company to launch the Alto 800 in 2012. The new Maruti Alto 800 is a refurbished version of the previous Alto 800 cc and comes with a new fascia, improved interiors and features. The Alto K10, in contrast, is an improved version of the Maruti Suzuki Alto and comes with a more powerful engine and features.
So what is so special about the K10 – it comes equipped with a K-series, 998 cc engine, and comes with improved suspension, new cable-type transmission, superior brake system and more knee-room for rear seat passengers.
The K10 has a jelly-bean styling that resembles the older version of the Zen. The new Alto K10 gets more space as the height and the width has been increased. The front fascia gets a wider headlamp and swept back petal headlamps. The front bumper gets a new fog lamp assembly. Even the bonnet looks new. The cabin space of Alto K10 is almost the same as the Alto 800, but space at the rear is more. The Alto K10 comes with body coloured bumpers, 13-inch tubeless tyres, wheel-covers, and body side mouldings.
It gets touches of silver on the steering wheel, central console, and door handles. The interiors of the Alto K10 gets body coloured internally adjustable outside rear view. Features like AC and power steering are standard on K10. The two-tone interiors look good. The other features include integrated headrests at front and rear, speedometer, tachometer and electronic tripmeter. Storage space is taken care by accessory socket, rear parcel tray, cup holder and front power windows.
The K10 has a K108 petrol engine with a 998 cc engine displacement that churns out a maximum power of 67 bhp @ 6200 rpm at a maximum torque of 90 Nm @ 3500 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5 speed manual transmission. The ARAI certified mileage is 20.2 kmpl. This is the highest among petrol cars in A2 segment. The CNG model of the K10 gives a good mileage of 32.26 kmpl. In the K10 AMT variant, the controls of the clutch and the gear shifting are timed. The Alto K10 can accelerate from 0 to 100 kmph in just 13.3 seconds. The 4.6 meters turning radius of the Alto K10 helps the car to take on traffic and parking challenges
The Alto K10 is offered in six colours: Fire Brick Red, Midnight Black, Sunlight Copper, Ecru Beige, Silky Silver and Superior White.
The Alto K10 is priced between Rs. 3.17 lakhs and Rs. 3.99 lakhs.
